Hi E3 Forum - I recently acquired a 1972 Bavaria (Chamonix over marineblau) in Washington, USA. I am currently in the process of going through the car, and sorting out the essentials - fluids, ignition, etc. I came across this wire in the fuse box area under the dash, near the hood release. Can someone tell me what this could be for and where it plugs into. It exists that area to the left and into the engine bay somewhere.
Thank you,
Paulaner

Re: Electrical Question
Hello all,
the ECE and USA versions of the E3 differ in many aspects. A single wire that runs through the car outside the wiring loom is most likely not a works feature but a later addition. At least from what you write I assume it is not part of the loom. Anyway, it'd be helpful if you found the other end.
For something different: are you already a member of <https://e9coupe.com/forum/>? That forum is american based, everything is in English, and, I must admit, there is much more going on there than here. They have a not too small section for the E3 and even accept foreigners as members. Quite liberal, eh? Knowledge of the Bav's specifics is much larger in America, small wonder. Maybe worth a try.
Please don't think I try to get rid of you. I just think e9coupe will be of more use for you than the E3-Club's forum.
Greetings, crs

Re: Electrical Question
Hi Christoph and CRS - thanks for the replies, and sorry for not acknowledging sooner. I have not yet tracked down the other end of that wire, but will look tomorrow and report back. The car does have an electrical raise and lower radio antenna, so will look closer at that.
Just received the car from the detail shop after a few days getting a full interior and exterior cleaning.
@crs - I did also join the E9/E3 forum you mentioned, but wanted to cast a wide net and get involved in as much of the E3 community as possible Even the part of the group on the other side of the pond
